Awarded one of six $35,000 grants for mobile social networking as part of the Creating Sustainable Businesses in the Knowledge Economy program, part of a partnership among infoDev, the Government of Finland, and Nokia. Started the AkiraChix Training program, teaching programming and web development skills to 29 young women. Recognized with the Unsung Heroes award by the US Embassy in Nairobi on International Women’s Day 2011. Delivered an open source project for Computer Aid International – Magme for visual accessibility
