Mobile Boot Camp in MMUST

This past weekend Akirachix was in Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). We were hosting our second out of Nairobi Mobile Boot Camp and a first for them. Our team of six comprised of four trainers who trained the students in SMS/USSD, SMS, Java ME and Android.

It was great to see the enthusiasm of both the students and the faculty during the course of the Boot Camp. More than 150 students attended the three-day event. The students promised that we would hear of more innovations and ventures from Kakamega.

One of the aims of these activities under the Mobile Garage program is to target public institutions of higher learning that do not have access to the abundant technological opportunities available in Nairobi. Through this initiative we hope to improve the quality of life of rural and marginalized communities using technology. We thank our sponsors Infodev and the Government of Finland for enabling us to impact the future generations of African entrepreneurs.
