IT Assistant/ House-Keeper at Kianda School
Prior to joining Akirachix training, Berita was working a House Keeper at Kianda School. She seized the opportunity to learn IT and was committed to attending classes while still working. This was not without challenges as she had to miss out on some classes in order to attend to her job. Her determination and completion as one of the successful graduates earned her a new role as an IT Assistant at Kianda School. She hopes that Akirachix may accord her another opportunity to further her programming skills and welcomes an opportunity to be able to exercise further the programming skills she learnt in the training.
Prior to joining Akirachix training, Eunice was just doing what the empowered youth calls in her words "normal things". This included training institutions and youths on important topics such as behavior change, drugs and HIV/Aids. After graduating from Akirachix training, she was hoping to get an opportunity to exercise her programming skills. She cultivated on this after the training by requesting Akirachix for a laptop and she would come to iHub, a Nairobi based technology hub that provides for co-working space in hope someone would recognize her talents but coupled with challenges she resolved to get back to the community where Organization groups can pay for her to train fellow peers as a part time whilst looking out for an opportunity to program. She loves programming and would embrace an opportunity to work as a developer any day.
Developer/Admin at Crowdpesa.com (Space Kenya)
Prior to joining Akirachix training, Daniel had no sense of direction in life. In his words "I was just a hustler and I would wake up every morning with no idea what to do or where to go". After Akirachix training, Daniel secured an opportunity to work as an web design intern at Sprint Interactive before securing his current role as a Web Developer and Admin at Space Kenya. He is highly respected among his peers and his progressive performance has earned him a lead to his colleagues' majority of whom attended institutions of higher learning. Daniel attributes his success to the opportunity that Akirachix gave him to attend the training and being the only boy in the class he was determined and has carried this on and hopes Akirachix will continue to offer such opportunity to others. Daniel believes in any IT training is "Grab & Run" and the rest is so much on an individual's self drive as he's realized in IT every day is a learning day. Daniel is the only young man to graduate from the Akirachix Training Program. His experience in the training program helped him to appreciate the work of women in technology.
